A Mid-Century Home Reimagined for Modern Coastal Living

Returning to the place that shaped you carries a sense of nostalgia that's difficult to recreate. For the homeowner and her husband, Marblehead had always been home, and when the opportunity arose to purchase a property near family with water views, they knew it was the perfect place to spend a few months each year.

The existing home offered incredible potential, with strong mid-century architectural bones that deserved to be celebrated rather than erased. Through a complete gut renovation, our goal was to preserve the home's original character while thoughtfully reimagining it for the way the family lives today.

Natural white oak, clean architectural lines, and an airy palette establish a sense of warmth and simplicity throughout the home. Modern coastal influences were layered in with intention not through overt nautical references, but through texture, natural materials, soft tones, and furnishings that reflect the relaxed rhythm of life by the water. Every design decision was made to feel timeless, approachable, and deeply connected to its surroundings.

Expansive windows frame the coastal landscape while open, light-filled living spaces create a seamless flow for gathering with family and entertaining guests. Custom millwork, carefully selected materials, and understated detailing honor the home's mid-century origins while bringing a refined, contemporary perspective.

The result is a home that feels both familiar and new a modern coastal retreat rooted in the character of Marblehead and designed to be enjoyed for generations.
