Gina Baran
Principal + Chief Creative officer

Gina’s passion for interior design began in her childhood home, where she spent countless hours rearranging furniture and refreshing paint colors, transforming her family’s rental into something uniquely theirs. This firsthand experience taught her the importance of creating spaces that feel like home to them, a lesson that resonates with the clients she serves today.

In 2013, after over a decade in the corporate world, Gina took a bold step to enroll back into school for interior design and launch her own design studio. What began as a solo venture soon blossomed into an award-winning firm, with a dedicated team of skilled designers who share her commitment to creating thoughtful, impactful spaces. As the principal designer and Chief Creative Officer, Gina now leads her incredible team, ensuring that each project embodies our client’s distinct aesthetic and attention to detail.

In 2016, Gina founded Baran Home, a furnishings, decor, and lifestyle shop that has since become a beloved destination, earning awards like Boston Magazine’s Best of Boston and a BONS award from Northshore Magazine. Her shop is an extension of her passion for beautifully curated spaces, offering clients the chance to bring a bit of her design vision into their own homes.

Outside of operating her design firm and curating for Baran Home, Gina enjoys quality time with her husband, two children, and their dog, Ralph.

Derek Baran

Chief Operations Officer

With a 20+ year background in military, law enforcement and logistics, Derek brings exceptional structure and strategic oversight to the daily operations of GBID. As our COO, he oversees all internal systems, our retail shops and warehouse logistics, that keeps every project running seamlessly.
Derek works closely with our design teams and procurement manager to coordinate schedules, streamline processes, and provide creative, solutions driven support throughout each build.

His ability to anticipate needs and keep every moving part aligned makes him an invaluable part of both our client experience and the behind-the-scenes excellence GBID is known for.

Katie Satchell

Lead Architectural + Furnishings Residential + Commercial Interior Designer

Katie earned her degree in Architectural Design and began her career working on large-scale commercial and hospitality projects. While she enjoys all aspects of design, her true passion lies in interiors. Katie thrives on curating spaces that are not only beautifully designed but also uniquely tailored to each client, creating environments where families can grow and make lasting memories.

Katie is spearheading the expansion of our firm by leading our new Virginia office, bringing her expertise and passion to an exciting new market. She does this while focusing on leading new construction and renovation projects in New England and Mid East Coast servicing our client’s from DC to Outer Banks NC.

When she’s not in the studio or on-site, Katie loves exploring new areas along the East Coast with her husband and their two labs, Lilly and Lincoln.

Michelle Whalen

Lead Architectural + Furnishings Residential + Commercial Interior Designer

Michelle’s love for color and texture led her to study at Syracuse School of Visual and Performing Arts, followed by earning an M.ARCH from the Boston Architectural College. With over a decade of architectural experience spanning higher-ed, commercial, and residential projects, she excels at translating complex client needs into cohesive, functional designs. As a LEED-accredited professional, Michelle integrates sustainable choices into her work at GBID.

In 2013, Michelle launched Andover Bear Company, expanding her creative horizons through product design. She continues to bring artistic touches and innovative ideas to GBID projects.

Outside of work, Michelle enjoys running with friends, creating art, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Felicia Enos

Lead Interior Architecture + Furnishings Residential + Commercial

Felicia’s love for interior design was inspired by her father, an architectural engineer, and years spent on job sites watching blueprints come to life. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from High Point University and a Master’s in Communications and Business Leadership, building a career that spans residential and commercial design.

Known for her refined transitional style, Felicia blends European influences and modern furnishings to create timeless, tailored spaces that reflect her clients’ unique lifestyles.

Her creativity and approachable personality make her a vital part of the Gina Baran Interiors + Design team.

Alison Campbell

Busiess & Procurement Manager

With a background in Advertising, Alison joined the interior design industry in 2019 after raising her two children. Her talents in lie in the building of relationships, paying attention to the details and a true appreciation of design. When not at work, she enjoys good food, travel, reading, spending time with her family and playing golf.

Our firm designs for residential and commercial clients nationwide. Our interior design studio headquarters is located in downtown Newburyport.
