Bradford Pond Project Reveal

Hello! Happy June! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Spring so far! It's been a whirlwind here getting everything wrapped up as I prepare for the arrival of our daughter in the next few weeks. I am meeting with all our in process clients and all our fall client renovation projects before heading on maternity the end of next week. We are still going to be designing away during that time but not taking on any new clients until mid fall.

Good design takes time, it's nothing that is instantly created (sorry to be a broken record but this concept is so very important to understand). With that being said I am sharing with you our Bradford Pond Project. We photographed this home back in April with Freebird Photography and am finally sharing it with you all.

This home is occupied by an amazing family that are the first owners of the home. The got into the home during the building stage and although this home is a few years old, the clients realized some of the selections that were made really weren't their style. They reached out to me to help create the feeling they wanted in the home.

Take a peek at one of the rooms before.

The homeowners purchased furniture prior to bringing me in. Unfortunately the furniture was the wrong color and scale for the space. The rug was the wrong size and colors as well. The room felt empty even with furniture in it. These clients agreed that they didn't want more furniture but wanted the room to feel cozy. My first suggestion was to get a new sofa that was the right scale for the space. They had just spent quite a bit of money on the sofa/love seat and really wanted me to work around what they had. After several different renders and ordering only a few new pieces (coffee table, rug + console) they realized that they infact needed to take my advise. No matter how much furniture they added into the space they wouldn't ever get the feeling they wanted and would end up spending more money in the long run.

A new oversized sectional was ordered and that added with a few new accessories created the modern cozy feeling the clients wanted and with less furniture than they had when they started.

The family room is open to the spacious eat in kitchen and we wanted to make sure the two spaces flowed well together. It's a great space for entertaining and having a home that they are proud to show off yet are still comfortable in on a day to day basis was very important to them.

Another element we changed in the project was the hardwood floors. When they were working with the builder they had ok'd a stain selection suggested. A golden honey red undertone stain that really didn't flow with their design style. One of the first things we did was to have their floors refinished. We created this warm walnut gray finish in a custom mix. The home instantly transformed.

The home office is one of the first rooms you see when you walk into the home. They wanted it to be relaxed but still flow with the rest of the house. It turned out to be one of their favorite spaces. Modern yet comfortable and it incorporated many personal pieces.

The master bedroom went from cold to cozy with a few updates. No new furniture was purchased we just worked with what they had because their foundation in this room worked for the scale of the space.

There are soo many amazing items I have been eyeing for many. The home vendors are coming out with so many amazing pieces, it's hard to select. I am focusing on exterior pieces as well as a few interior pieces that I have sourced for Abode!

I am also thinking ahead to my post pregnancy body in hopes that I will be able to fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans sooner than later (we know the reality of this) but it gives me motivation so let's not bring me back to reality ;) I fell in love with these jeans prior to becoming pregnant and wore them almost every day. They are a splurge but worth every penny in my opinion.
